Fellas-

Is everyone ok with the new software and design?  I think it’s much easier to use.  The only catch is that the only person who can edit a comment is the person who posted the orignal entry that the comment relates to.  I installed a plugin to fix this, but the catch is that you can only edit your own comments from the main blog pages (not from the admin pages).  I’ll try to fix this when I get time.

I like the new interface and software. My only complaint is that it doesn’t work very well with Safari (the Mac internet browser) and I can’t post replies to the site without getting an error message. Not sure what the factors are the causes this to occur, but I’ll let you know when I find out.

What kind of error are you getting?

I like the new layout, it is easier to use. Any compatability issues with Firefox? I am thinking about switching over when IE 7 comes out (the beta was just released this week).

No - I’m using both IE 6 and Firefox 1.5 and everything works fine. (so far)

Ok - I fixed the comment issue so now you can edit your own comments (as long as you were logged in when you submitted the comment).

I’m writing this entry at work using IE 6.0, and when I try to edit my profile, I get the following message.

“Sorry, you need to enable sending referrers for this feature to work.”

That’s an IE security issue - are you running any anti-virus or internet security software?

Not sure what my office has running. But I edited my profile just now from Firefox on my Mac. The other issue is the following: whenever I enter the prepound from Safari the following message appears in a pop-up window:

“Safari support is very limited and should be considered experimental.
So there is no need to even submit bugreports on this early version.
You can disable this message by setting: safari_warning option to false”

And then when I enter comments from Safari the following appears:

    Error: please type a comment

So that’s what’s up on my end. WordPress is not happy with my Mac, that’s for sure.

All right, I’ll look into it.  I think it’s related to the editor box with all of the fancy buttons.  So aparently, though, you’re able to submit comments?  Or do you have to use something besides Safari?

How do you post text/image inside the post instead of all on the main page?

When you write a new post, there are 2 buttons immediately to the right of the image buttons.  The first one adds a “more” link and anything below it will be on the next page.  The second one adds a “page” link, so you could use that multiple times and have your post span more than 2 pages.  Boo-yah.

To submit comments I need to use Firefox, which is a pain in the ass because Safari is much more user friendly and Mac friendly.

Tom- Try using Safari again and let me know if anything has changed.  Also, let me know if the toolbar buttons in the comments box show up correctly.

As for the IE problem with “sending referrers”, like I said that’s not a Wordpress issue but an issue with either your virus software or browser security settings.  If you click on the link that it gives you and follow the directions on that page, you should be able to fix it.

I’ll give it a shot tonight.

Yeah, Matt? And where’s homo Todd? Does he know this is going on?

    BKP, questions:

    - How do I create a link without using the entire URL? For example the “Bono Video” link.

    - I have been trying to upload more pics into my album but it does not seem to let me. WTF? I select the pic on my desktop, click the add button, and it just clears the address screen. I am also getting a script error on the page (little triangle and exclimation point at the bottom of the browser window)

    - How can I edit my own comment if I did not create the post? Is that possible?

    werd.

    DW-

-I fixed the comments form to make it easier to add links.  In either form (comments or new post), type the text that you actually want to appear, highlight it, and click on the chain link icon in the toolbar.  You should get a popup window asking you for the URL.

-Not sure about the pictures.  1) make sure you’re logged in, 2) make sure you’re in your album before you click “Add items”, and 3) WTF is the address screen you speak of?  When you click add, it should give you a page with 5 “browse” buttons.

-Log in, find your comment, and there should be an “edit” link next to the date/time.  If you weren’t logged in when you posted the comment, you’re screwed and I’ll have to do it for you.

    Wurd.

D - what pics do you have? Matt, where are the additional Whistler pics?

I’ll try loading the ones from Vegas this weekend.

I think the better question is just where is Matt?

Matt is getting his 5-hole cleaned on a daily basis by his rotations.

I am mailing Matt he CD with Vegas and Whistler pics/videos today.

BKP - by the address screen, I mean the address line that indicates where the file is to upload (Ex: C/windows/desktop/gheyseks.jpg). When I click the “add” button after selecting the file, it does up upload, just clears the address line. Also, the page has errors on it…ah well, could be network settings on my work computer. It seems to work better at home(o).

Is the main page not loading correct for anyone else?  The text shows up a couple of inches to the left.

It’s loading that way for me, too (but not through Safari, oddly enough). And the comment section appears on the right but at the bottom of the page.

Fools - it’s fine for me.  Are you still having problems?  Try holding down the shift key and click reload (that forces a reload of any style sheets that your browser has cached).

It has been looking good lately. Maybe it was a wordpress problem.

Yo, I cleared the temp internet flies and deleted my auto-login.  I did the retreve password and it said the mail function has been disabled.  What it is, yo?
In other news, is there plug-ins to show how many hits each post has generated, top 10 or so to speak?  Also, a list of user stats like # of posts and responses and total hits would be interesting.

Check out the sidebar now - is that what you wanted?

That is cool.  It would also be interesting to see how many “hits” each post has gotten…just to see how many from in Internet Land has come across our page searching on variouis topics.  Looks good!

The front page is not loading correctly…I think it is because in the “recent comments” section I have a link to Google Videos that makes the column so wide it has to load at the bottom…?  Any way we can edit our comments if we did not start the post?

    Tool-

You can edit your own comments as long as you were logged in when you posted the comment. The front page think was because of your link - I fixed it for you, no thanks needed. I also updated the Popular posts section to show it both by # of comments and # of hits. And finally I added a link to a summary page to see where the hits are coming from.
